Taiwan quake brings internet almost to a standstill
KUALA LUMPUR: Internet users were a frustrated lot yesterday. Some could not access websites while others found it extremely slow.It was the same throughout most of Asia as telecommunications lines were disrupted after undersea cables were damaged by an earthquake in Taiwan.
International telephone calls to countries such as Japan, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Korea and the United States were also affected.
For the day-to-day Internet user, the interruption in services meant that work almost came to a standstill.
Graphic designer Josh Lim, 23, said he noticed the slower access early this morning when he tried to access his Streamyx account.
"Some sites could not even be accessed," said Lim, who is also co-founder of a support group for broadband users, called RedesignMalaysia.com.
According to the website, 26 telecommunication companies were affected.
"We really could not do much," said Lim, adding that he and his colleagues ended up cleaning and rearranging the office instead.
Student K. Kugan said: "I couldn’t even get onto the world wide web. My local area network connection was fine but I could not get online at all.
"It was very frustrating. I could not access the net last night too. I hope they repair it fast."
TMNet Sdn Bhd explained in a statement yesterday that Internet users in Malaysia and other parts of Asia might experience some delay when assessing content and websites hosted outside of Malaysia, especially in the US, Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea and Europe.
TMNet said the earthquake damaged the APCN2 (Asia Pacific Cable Network 2) submarine cable between Shantou, China, and Tanshui, Taiwan, and between Lantau, Hong Kong, and Chongming, China.
The company has diverted traffic through other back-up links to reduce the traffic congestion.
In a statement, Telecom Malaysia said it was working closely to undertake repair works so that telephone services to affected countries would be restored. However, it said it was unable to determine when the services could be restored.
Meanwhile, Jaring chief executive officer Dr Mohamed Awang Lah told the New Straits Times yesterday that not all of Jaring’s services were interrupted.
"It is only a partial interruption with slower access to overseas sites."
MohamedAwang said all Internet service providers in the region were affected as they were linked with the undersea data cables off the coast of Taiwan.
He said it would take a few weeks to repair the cable but could not say when services would be fully restored.
A Maxis spokesperson said some customers had difficulty making international calls to the US, Canada, Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
"Customers roaming in these countries also had problems calling home."
She said Maxis’ roaming services in the US, Canada and Korea had been restored to normal while roaming services in Japan and Taiwan were being restored.

merry xmas ppls!
hohohoho merry xmas pepps! im feeling tired but kinda cool over here at Billie house.Ah slept for 3hours before working :( finish work at 1700pm,and str8 went to Mcd at ss15,oh something cross in my mind,i miss someone that last time order Mcd for me :( i wish that kind of view can be happen again! the sweet and nice some memories to remember,wish i can have her rite now again.Raining and raining again,back to Inferno and online and playing some online match..oh my life is bored without you.

Apabila salah satu pintu kebahagiaan tertutup, yang lain akan terbuka tapi lazimnya kita akan memandang pintu yang telah tertutup itu terlalu lama hinggakan kita tidak nampak pintu yang telahpun dibukakan untuk kita.
Kawan yang paling baik ialah seseorang yang anda boleh duduk di dalam buaian dan berbuai bersama tanpa berkata apa-apa pun dan kemudian berjalan pulang dengan perasaan bahawa itulah perbualan yang paling hebat yang pernah dialami.
Memang benar yang kita tidak akan tahu apa yang telah kita punyai sehinggalah kita kehilangannya dan juga benar bahawa kita tidak tahu apa yang kita rindukan sehinggalah ia datang. Memberi seseorang seluruh cinta anda bukanlah satu kepastian yang mereka akan menyintai anda kembali!
Jangan harapkan cinta sebagai balasan. Nantikan sahaja ia untuk mekar di dalam hati mereka tapi sekiranya ia tidak, pastikanlah ia terus mekar di dalam hati anda. Ia Cuma mengambil masa seminit untuk jatuh hati pada seseorang, satu jam untuk menyukai seseorang, satu hari untuk menyintai seseorang tetapi ia mengambil masa sepanjang hidup untuk melupakan seseorang.
Jangan pandang kepada kecantikan kerana boleh jadi ianya palsu. Jangan kejar kemewahan kerana ianya akan susut. Carilah seseorang yang membuatkan anda tersenyum kerana ia cuma memerlukan sekuntum senyuman untuk mencerahkan hari yang suram. Carilah yang membuatkan hati anda tersenyum.
Akan tiba satu ketika di dalam kehidupan apabila anda teramatkan rindu seseorang sehingga anda ingin menggapainya dari mimpi anda dan memeluknya dengan sebenar. Mimpilah apa yang ingin anda mimpikan, pergilah ke mana-mana yang ingin anda tujui dan jadilah apa yang anda inginkan kerana anda hanya memiliki satu kehidupan dan satu peluang untuk melakukan semua perkara yang ingin anda lakukan...

The Aviator Captain

In commercial aviation, a pilot in command of an aircraft is often referred to as a "captain", although technically they are the "commander". This practice began with the flying boats of the 1930s and quickly spread to most of the airline industry or because airplanes were regarded as flying ships to begin with. Nautical terms are common in aviation. Most airline captains wear uniforms with four bars on the sleeve and shoulder board (imitating the rank insignia in both the
U.S.
and Royal Navies), although this varies among companies. Traditionally, they sit in the left hand seat of a fixed-wing aircraft, and on the right in a helicopter.
"Through his seat at the front of the aircraft flow the efforts of thousands of people who provide the means by which he carries out his task. However, it is an undeniable fact that:

His is the ultimate decision in any course of action.

These responsibilities are recognized in the definition of his title of "Captain", which means "in command" and as such legally the final responsibility for the safety of the aircraft rests solely with the pilot in command. 3
It is these professional responsibilities that not only make pilots "Sui Generis", but also worth every cent of their pay and conditions. 4
In a sense, pilots are the stewards of an airline's three most valuable assets; its passengers, its aircraft (worth up to $200+ million each) and the public's confidence in the corporate identity of the airline. As such, unpalatable though it might be to some airline managers and civic leaders who think "pilots are just glorified bus drivers", the most important people in any successful airline are its pilots, for on their backs rides the very survival of the airline.
The difference between leadership and management is:
Leadership is setting a new direction or vision for a group that they follow, ie: a leader is the spearhead for that new direction
Management controls or directs people/resources in a group according to principles or values that have already been established.
The difference between leadership and management can be illustrated by considering what happens when you have one without the other.
Leadership without management
...sets a direction or vision that others follow, without considering too much how the new direction is going to be achieved. Other people then have to work hard in the trail that is left behind, picking up the pieces and making it work. Eg: in Lord of the Rings, at the council of Elrond, Frodo Baggins rescues the council from conflict by taking responsibility for the quest of destroying the ring - but most of the management of the group comes from others.
Management without leadership
...controls resources to maintain the status quo or ensure things happen according to already-established plans. Eg: a referee manages a sports game, but does not usually provide "leadership" because there is no new change, no new direction - the referee is controlling resources to ensure that the laws of the game are followed and status quo is maintained.
Leadership combined with management
...does both - it both sets a new direction and manages the resources to achieve it. Eg: a newly elected president or prime minister.

What's the Difference Between Flirting and Cheating?
My last blog entry raised the question of why men cheat, and thousands of you weighed in--not just on the whys of cheating, but on what, exactly, constitutes cheating. In fact, one woman said she considers it cheating if her man so much as looks at another woman. Huh? You mean he's not even allowed to scope, peek, glance, admire, or notice another beautiful woman? Now, it's one thing to hold a man's words, actions, or nether regions to a high standard. But his eyes, too? That seems to make about as much sense as our societal obsession with Britney's apparently empty underwear drawer.While researching my book Men, Love & Sex, I found that not only do men and women define fidelity differently, but they also fail to talk about their definitions before something happens (with the exception of the one action everyone acknowledges as cheating). Here's how guys tend to define the murkier areas of fidelity. Don't like it? Then talk about it now before he steps across a line he didn't know existed.
Flirting or Cheating? Looking at another woman?
It's one thing if his tongue drops to the floor in your presence; that's just plain disrespectful (though 80 percent of men have admitted to looking at other women even with their wives or girlfriends around). But cheating? Hardly. Men think there's a huge difference between thinking and acting. "We have two sides--the committed husband/boyfriend and the 'check out the hottie' side. In men, the committed wins out, but the checker always exists," says one man who responded to the Harris poll I used when researching the book. (And ladies, don't even try to tell me you haven't had more than a couple of thoughts and conversations about whether McDreamy or McSteamy is hotter.)

The e-mail exchange per se isn't a cheat (depending on exactly what's exchanged, of course). But, for many people, any contact beyond a few truly platonic and innocent "just catching up" messages is a relationship-killer-not because of the act itself, but because of the potential act that may follow. About 60 percent of guys consider dinner and drinks with an ex as cheating. Looking her up online? Only 20 percent of us would classify that as a relationship no-no.
Flirting or Cheating? Hanging out with the women at work?
Here's the real relationship danger zone: About 50 percent of guys consider having dinner and drinks with an attractive co-worker as cheating. But the more troubling stat for you may be this one: One in five men says that he secretly loves his platonic (for now) coworker. Just look at Jim and Pam on The Office, and you know exactly what I'm talking about. That's not meant to scare you-more just to make sure you keep your eyes open (as if you don't already) and intentions honorable.
Flirting or Cheating? Kissing another woman?
Some guys may try to wiggle out of a drunken kiss with a stranger (or coworker, in the cloakroon, at the Christmas party) as a one-time-only event. But the true test about whether a guy thinks something is cheating is whether he'd be ok with the situation reversed. Guys don't want their women exchanging lip balm (or any thing else physical) with another guy, and nearly 90 percent of guys agree that their own drunken hook-up with a stranger is indeed off-limits.
Flirting or Cheating? Going to a strip club?
The good news for those of you who are anti-exotic dancer: Half of men think that visiting a strip club is cheating. The other half? Going to a strip club is like going to a sporting event-there's lots of entertainment, lots of excitement, and lots of interest in watching the most talented players in action. In the poll, many men said that they feel there's no harm in once-in-a-while visits since there's no emotional attachment and only temporary, artificial physical attraction. "Sometimes, to be blunt about it," one man responded in the poll, "it's just a bit of art appreciation, and it's nice to see another woman naked."

depressed and regret
Im back for away for quite long,the situation of my life is still the same..what to do,this is what we call LIFE? life is always unfair ?...hmm just remember whatever happen,happen for a reason.Thanks AllahI though when im going far away from there,something will with me,but im wrong.. everything still the same.. pain of my life still there.Parents still away to Makkah, mum dad im missing u alot,hope everything okay over there.So much things that i has done and happen to me, wah so pain sia..
